Hong Kong Hickory Golf Team to Organize First Hickory Event

The Hickory Golf Team (HGT) in Hong Kong will organize its first hickory event and celebrate its founding on March 30.

The Hong Kong HGT has been formed recently by Captain David Cai, a PGA of America Professional, who teaches golf in Hong Kong.

David is also secretary and member of the Board of the Society of China Hickory Golfers (SCHG). He has formed the HGT to facilitate hickory golfing in Hong Kong, which boasts China’s earliest and continuously operating golf club, the Hong Kong Golf Club (formerly the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club), founded in 1889.

A number of David’s students in Hong Kong will participate in the March 30 hickory event, to be played at the South Course of the Jockey Club KSC Public Golf Course at Hong Kong’s Saigon Island. KSC is China’s only municipal public golf course built in 1995, with three 18-hole links-style courses.

SCHG members who will be playing later this year during the 3rd China Hickory Open will also participate at the event to be held at the same course on November 16-18. The three-day China Hickory Open will feature a national team competition on the 16th at the walk-only North Course and the two-day Open Championship on the 17th-18th at the South Course. Sponsored by the Hidden Grace Golf Museum in Shenzhen, the first and second China Hickory Open were held in 2024 at the Hidden Grace Golf Club in Shenzhen and 2025 at the Mission Hills Golf Club in Haikou, Hainan Island (see www.cnhickorygolfers.com).

David and four other SCHG board members played at the KSC Public Golf Course earlier this year. They believe that the Course will be an ideal and exciting venue for the 3rd China Hickory Open. Please read their experience at both the North and South Courses: https://en.cnhickorygolfers.com/article/764.html.

Registration details of the March 30 Hong Kong invitational hickory event can be seen at: https://form.typeform.com/to/wAf5fBPx. Deadline for registration is March 10.
